Location: Unknown ForestTime: Only a month after Sasuke left Recap: Taking place only a year after Sasuke left he wonders if perhaps he could go back having second thoughts of what he's done. Wishing he'd done more, been more, instead of only ignoring what was around him. Warnings: None "Well, it was weird you had tea on you." She irked slightly having let that slip a nod where she'd usually think it. At least he hadn't pushed the onigiri.Casting her eyes to his cooking she felt her stomach whine for food again. A little embarrassed she completely perked as the meat was handed to her, smiling and pulling it to her lap. She looked to the lunch box thoughtfully wondering if this was an underhanded way to get her to eat it's contents- oh well it didn't matter so much. "Thanks!" She blew on her dinner and picked it up taking a small bite. HOT! She nearly spit it out, but forced herself to chew it hard and swallow. She stuck out her tongue, wincing at the sting left over. "That's really hot..." She placed the meat down, giving it some time to cool.
"Thanks!"He nodded about to warn her about how hot it was when she took a bite and hurt herself. He felt the corners of his mouth tug upward. "That's really hot..." He turned his back torward her his shoulders shaking a it as he muttered something,He was laughing. He hadn't laughed since he was about 6 years old.
She blinked when his shoulders started to shake. Huh, was he alright? Then she heard it...laughter.Feeling very warm, much warmer than she'd felt for a long time; she suddenly felt incredibly happy if not a little flustered since he was laughing at her. "Oi, don't laugh! I did blow on it first." Sakura blushed and poked at the meat still waiting for it to cool. Yep, way too much time with Naruto.
"Oi, don't laugh! I did blow on it first."He kept his hand in front of his mouth his shoulders still shaking a bit from laughter a small tear in his right eye. "Didn't seem like it..." He managed to say through a snerk a warm smile on his face as he looked at her. Then realizing his own venison was burning he took it with his bare hand placing it quickly on a large leaf, reaching in his bag he took out a pair of chopsticks, one pair for her the other for him. He handed her one so she wouldn't burn herself again and then poked at his waiting for it to cool.
It wasn't her fault it was too hot. "Of course I did." His snerk didn't help though and her face got hotter as she took the chopsticks; well they'd keep the grease from getting on her fingers. Lifting up the meat she muttered a thanks and took a big bite. Trying to be neat; luck really wasn't on her side with the greasy meat. Though she'd expertly avoided the grease chewing and swallowing; she accidentally got a small bit of the meat on her face. She flushed and looked for something to wipe it off with hoping he hadn't noticed. damn, it had to be nerves! Or the fact she hadn't taken a smaller bite, but she'd been REALLY hungry.
"Of course I did."He glanced up having regained some composure seeing the meat on her face he took out a colth napkin, he'd washed it many, many times considering and held it out to her without making eye contact. He was a little embarassed he'd laughed in front of her since well, he never laughed. He rarely smiled, except when all that power was flowing through him or he knew he'd won something, but this was different. In a sense...he kind of liked it.
Sakura completely irked when he handed her the napkin; her face going tomato red practically burning her cheeks. Did life hate her?! She quickly took the cloth and wiped off the meat inwardly gulping. How could she make such stupid little mistakes? Oh well, everyone did. Looking to the napkin she set it down on the lunchbox clueless what to do with it. Then, feeling her blush start to fade the kunoichi picked up the meat with her chopsticks again and took a small nip of bite.
Beginning to eat his own meat he ate it using the manners he'd been taught when he was a kid and so on, as the last Uchiha he could not eat like Naruto a slob. Figuring since he was there he would take the time to apologize, but he didn't even know how to begin, if he should or would it be better to remain silent. Honestly to himself, he was a bit tense at the idea of going back. What would they do to him? Lock him up? Place him in an isylum? Because there's was always a chance he would leave again... but... he stole a glance at Sakura who was daintly eating the meat and then averted his gaze down again. She'd always cared about him, he knew that. But he was always, IS always busy with training. Now with all this time he had he wondered what he did think of the girl. "Are you...feeling and better?" He asked rather hesitantly not looking up at her keeping his eyes on his food, it sounded weird coming out of his mouth. That was for sure...or was it just him?
"Um S-" He looked down at her as she paused, she was stalling? "You know where there's a shelter?" He rolled his eyes and took her hand and with force pulled her up wrapping her arm around his shoulder, holding her hand and the other wrapped around her waist, "No." He said bluntly while the cat clinged to Sakura, "But it's preferable we move before those wolves get here. Otherwise we'll make a nice meal for them, I'm sure they'd prefer warm living meat that a dead carcass." Yes, Sasuke could be blunt. But he didn't like to waste time, in fact it almost annoyed him.
Surprised Sakura nearly fell over, but the arm around her waist steadied her along with hers around his shoulder. "S-Sasuke?" She flushed at how close they were, shaking her head to focus on the matter at hand. More serious she nodded a little embarrassed as she answered. "But my legs won't go as fast, I'll try..."
"S-Sasuke? But my legs won't go as fast, I'll try..."He nodded taking most of the weight onto himself, which honestly, didn't feel like much. She was surprisingly light, did this girl eat at all? Jumping onto a tree branch he made his way through the trees with ease looking around for shelter as quickly as possible.
Damn, Tsuande-sama had warned her about using to much chakra in one bound, but never had she faced anyone as strong as Sasuke. She tried to tread light footsteps on the ground and keep up though in her state she felt more like she was being dragged. Glancing up to him she siltly noted he had some inside info on these 'wolf creatures.' "Sasuke, can they climb up trees?" If not, shelter wouldn't be a huge problem, and it wasn't like a cave or tunnel was going to pop up.
"Sasuke, can they climb up trees?"He searched around then shaking his head, "Hm, no. But they can knock them down." It was weird how he said that so calmly.
She irked at THAT answer, a twitch of her brow. W-what the hell kind of wolves were they dealing with?! Sweatdropping, she put her keen sight to good use and also looked for a safety zone restating the leaf's forest area in her head. An idea came and she perked pointing it out to sasuke. "There's water that way and I think I remember some caves! We should be safe there."
As she clinged even tighter he couldn't help but blush. Although he was a stoic one, he was still a boy. He squeezed her hand in reassurance... or he figured that's what people did... when they...when they...Spotting the cave he hopped downward the wolves far behind though you could hear their hungry howls from a distance. Walking into the cave still holding onto Sakura he set her down gently in the dark as night had now officially set in. Hopefully Konoha would dispatch a search party for her... he'd have to esca--..... oh wait... glancing over at Sakura he wondered if he really meant what he said. It was odd... normally he would've never agreed to something like that, quietly averting his gaze he blamed Orochimaru's cue mark... that HAD to be it. And how his heart beat sped up as she clung to him... another effect he was sure of it.
Set down, the pink haired kunoichi felt like kissing the ground...if she could possibly see it. "Ah, it's so dark- oh I have a flashlight!" She started to reach into her flashlight flushing just a little as her voice echoed off the cave walls like she'd screamed the statement. "Sorry, a flashlight wont give us away right?" 'If it doesn't, me being so loud will.' At least he hadn't told her to shut up and Naruto wasn't around to make it any louder.Naruto-kun...Would he be proud of her? Would things possibly go back to normal, and would sasuke really stay? Her hand lingered in her back over the compact flashlight she carried around. "It's so dark in here! We could stumble or trip..." She blinked; jade eyes wide even though he couldn't see. S-she'd been thinking that right? She hadn't just spoken that, being loud again!
"Ah, it's so dark- oh I have a flashlight!"He was startled by the loud statement looking back at her, "Sorry, a flashlight wont give us away right?" If you being so loud doesn't first... He thought flatly as he looked back out trying to see anything in the darkness. Seemed impossible the way it was looking..."It's so dark in here! We could stumble or trip..." Stealing another glance before looking back outside again sitting and leaning against the cave wall, "Mn, you can turn it on, just dim it a bit with your hand..."
At that, she straightened up a bit and narrowed her eyes at the taller male. "I was only asking because you know about these 'wolves. Don't order me around I've worked a flashlight before." Huffing lightly she took out the light-weight flashlight and flicked it on, covering it with a piece of cloth and tying it, to dim it. "Ah, much better." Grinning a little at their source of light she moved it from the floors to his face-giving him an innocent look as she shone it ahead of them to get a better look of the cave area.
"I was only asking because you know about these 'wolves. Don't order me around I've worked a flashlight before." As he leaned his had against the wall he wondered if she was always this cranky... wait...yes she was. Just not to him...usually...odd. He looked back as the flashlight looked in his face, as that look she gave caught him. As she observed the cave he looked at her a bit actually taking the time to think about what he did feel for the girl... Then cloing his eyes turning his head to the wall in front of him he told himself this was no time for him to be evaluating his feelings. He knew from the moment he first met her that he would never be able to have a relationship with her or anyone. The moment he decided he would take revenge for his family.Hearing movement a bit too late he cringed in pain as a wolf clawed his arm, Sasuke moving in time not to get his arm sliced off but too slow as blood spurt from his arm a deep cut resulting. His Sharingan almost automatically activating he noticed there was only one, it must've gotten lost as he preformed the seals the wolf pacing in front of the cave waiting as Sasuke stood his ground in front of Sakura, since that's where it's golden slits were directed. A familiar sound chirped as the wolf began charging at Sasuke to plow through to Sakura, "Chidori!!!" His arm lunged out just at the moment the wolf jumped into the air his arm jutting through the wolf as it clawed into one of his shoulders it's large jaw fitting itself around his other shoulder clamping down his shirt becoming soaked with his blood as well as the wolf's now.
Not about to stand by and let Sasuke fight the creature by himself she'd silently estimated the amount of chakra that had returned and her body's process of healing. She WAS healing alot faster than usual and she had enough regained chakra for a few more hits. It wasn't the best choice at the beginning of her training, but she wasn't going to prove useless once more Shannaro!"YOU STUPID MUTT GET OFF OF HIM!" She sent a super strength powered kick to the wolfs jaw, knocking the creature off of Sasuke's shoulder and quite harshly into the wall just before the cave entrance. Narrowing her eyes she focussed on the task at hand, shifting into a fighting position at Sasuke's side. As long as she didn't push herself.
"E-eh?! Sasuke I thought you said these things were tough!"Looking back at her he gave a slightly exhausted expression at her comment, they were tough. Now if he'd used his curse seal they'd all have their ass kicked by now...if only he'd... he pushed the temptation of the curse from his mind and tried to concentrate when she placed her cold hands against his skin a small gasp escaping from his mouth. He winced as his more injured shoulder moved, "Kuso, that's a bad wound...gomen." A rip was heard after she apologized to him, then as she proceeded to pat the wound he cringed at the stinging it gave, "Sasuke, we have to go to the river- it's our best bet of escape and we need to mask our scent."He nodded agreeing with her. That sounded about right, he watched the chakra build in her hand around his wound as he gritted his teeth a little feeling it close restraining his hand so it wouldn't automatically clutch the wound. It was the same chakra she'd used for the cat... stealing at small glance at her sweating brow as he saw her fatigue, about to tell her that it was enough he was surprised to feel a more intense cooling sensation on his wound the chakra glowing brighter earning a surprised glance from Sasuke."Put that on...your shirt I'll be...river."As she fell he caught her in his arms wincing at the stretch of his other wound setting her down gently honestly fatigued himself starting to feel his own muscles ache. Outside the clouds had been gathering in the sky and finally broke as rain started to pour down thunder clashing in the sky and lightning illuminating the forest, whimpers of wolves and the light scuttering of animals running for their shelter. The hard sound of rain clashing against the rocks, trees and soil above Sasuke and Sakura's heads. Leaning over her he took the flashlight she'd dropped taking the cloth off he held it the yellow light shining brightly on their faces. "Well... we don't have to worry about that anymore." Letting himself shine through the thick sheet of darkness a warm smile lit his face as he looked down at the much stronger kunoichi of his childhood.
Just because she'd been completely drained and had set to lie back on the cave ground it didn't mean she had the luxury of sleep. Still very awake her ears picked up the sound of raindrops and she couldn't feel more relieved, but that was short lived when a very bright light blinded her. "Oi, that's really bright Sasuke!" Scowling halheartedly the kunoichi tested out her limbs for movement-grunting as she got not even as inch of the ground. She didn't want to just lie there threat or not and she wasn't even tired! Pouting she looked the Uchiha and flushed at the thought of asking him to help her lean against something-she wasn't a motionless doll.At this point it seemed better to have just fainted.
"Oi, that's really bright Sasuke!"Well, duh, it IS a flashlight... He thought cynically to himself as she tried to get up....and failing.Didn't think she would, no matter how strong she'd gotten. Seeing her struggle he lifted her up letting her back lean against his chest so she could at least sit up silently understanding about not asking for help...
She blinked as she was suddenly lifted up and pulled against him--her face going completely red so that even her ears were colored. She stared up at him, mouth a gape, and her brain was completely spazzing. This had nothing to do with it being Sasuke! No, if any guy helped her out like that...well she'd hurt Naruto and no other guys ever did things like that for her.Kuso! Not the point!"S-sasuke, thanks but I'm okay! I was just thinking about a nice hard...wall! Or soemthing, the cave could have weird stuff on the ground and-!"She was completely rambling now and any attempted struggle made it look like she hadn't tried to move at all.
"S-sasuke, thanks but I'm okay! I was just thinking about a nice hard...wall! Or soemthing, the cave could have weird stuff on the ground and-!"He placed a hand over her mouth hoping she wouldn't see his eyebrow twitch a little. At least she hadn't said Sasuke-kun or anything, and she was trying to be independent but e could tell by her red face she liked being held like that. His other fangirls would be jealous, god forbid he should ever see any of them again. Sliding his hand down her mouth and finally off he muttered, "It's no trouble..." He leaned his head against the wall closing his eyes tired like hell.
She froze as his hand covered her mouth; jade eyes wide as mumbled attempts came out before stopping the struggle. Her horrid blush had cooled down, but now things to that hand she feeling incredibly weird and she KNEW that her heart was beating. She let out a shaky breath when he finally moved his hand-the feel of his fingertips brushing her lips nearly breathtaking. Damn him! She narrowed her at the Uchiha."What the hell was that for?!"
